Singapore visitor e-Visa for Indian passport holders
Indian passport holders need a visa to enter Singapore. It is applied for through an ICA authorised visa agent in India or a local contact in Singapore, costs SGD 30, is processed within three working days and is issued as an e-Visa. ICA sets the validity (commonly a multiple-journey visa of up to two years for Indian travellers) and the stay is granted at the checkpoint, usually 30 days. Indians holding valid visas or long-term passes from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, New Zealand or Japan can transit visa-free for 96 hours.

Singapore visitor e-visa: quick answers
- Who needs a Singapore visa?
- All Indian ordinary passport holders, for tourism, family visits and business. Diplomatic and official passports are exempt. Indians holding a valid visa or long-term pass from Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the UK or the US, and travelling to or from that country on an onward ticket, can use the 96-hour Visa-Free Transit Facility instead, at the immigration officer's discretion.
- What does it cost?
- SGD 30 per application, non-refundable, paid online by card by the agent or local contact. Authorised visa agents in India add a service fee (about INR 300 to 1,000); there is no VFS centre for Singapore. Every traveller including children pays SGD 30.
- How long does it take from India?
- ICA processes applications within three working days excluding the submission day, and most e-Visas arrive in one to three days; some cases take longer. Apply within 30 days before travel as ICA advises, and at least a week before departure in the December and May peaks.

Who qualifies for a Singapore visa
Singapore does not take direct applications from Indian travellers: the file is lodged either by an ICA authorised visa agent appointed by the Singapore High Commission in New Delhi or the consulates in Mumbai and Chennai, or by a local contact in Singapore (a citizen or permanent resident aged 21 or over, or a Singapore company) using the ICA e-Service with Singpass or Corppass. A local contact signs a Letter of Introduction (Form V39A) and is responsible for the visitor.
ICA assesses each case on its merits and does not give reasons for refusal. The documents that matter are a passport valid for six months, the completed Form 14A, a recent photo meeting ICA's guidelines, and, where an agent asks, bank statements, a return ticket and hotel booking or the host's details. Travel history to Singapore or to Schengen, UK, US and Japan helps multiple-journey approvals.
The visa is permission to seek entry; the Short-Term Visit Pass granted at the checkpoint sets the stay, usually 30 days. Visitors must also submit the free SG Arrival Card online within three days before arrival. Work of any kind, including remote work for an Indian employer, needs a work pass; business meetings, conferences and exhibitions are allowed.

Signed form, photo meeting ICA's guidelines, passport bio page; add the return ticket, hotel or host details and recent statements.

Lodge through an authorised visa agent or local contact
The agent or local contact submits on the ICA e-Service and pays SGD 30; local contacts attach the Letter of Introduction (Form V39A).

ICA processes within three working days; the agent or local contact prints the e-Visa and e-mails it to you.
- 4

Submit the free electronic arrival card within three days before travel.

The immigration officer grants the Short-Term Visit Pass, usually 30 days; keep the e-Visa, return ticket and accommodation details to hand.
Timeline for an Indian applicant
| Stage | Typical time | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| Documents | 1 to 3 days | Form 14A, photo, bookings, statements |
| Lodging | Same day | Agent or local contact submits |
| Decision | 3 working days | Some cases longer |
| Validity window | Set by ICA | Travel within the visa validity; stay set at entry |
ICA advises applying within 30 days before arrival; for December and summer travel lodge at least a week ahead. Multiple-journey visas let frequent travellers skip the process for up to two years.
At the checkpoint and during the stay
The Short-Term Visit Pass is granted for the period the officer decides, normally 30 days, and can be extended once online through ICA for up to 89 days in total where justified. Overstaying is a criminal offence in Singapore with fines and, beyond 90 days, caning for men; leave on time or extend before expiry.
Visitors may not work, study on a course longer than 30 days or seek employment without the right pass. Frequent visitors who later move for work or study switch to the Employment Pass, S Pass or Student's Pass routes described on the other Singapore route pages; a visitor cannot convert to a work pass without the employer's application.

Why applications on this route get refused, and the fix
Insufficient supporting documents
Missing statements, bookings or a photo that failed ICA's checks; agents lodging incomplete files.
The fix. Submit complete documents through a reputable authorised agent; Vistolane's partner checks the file before lodging.
Travel history or profile
First-time travellers with little history, irregular income or recent large deposits.
The fix. Show regular income, a clear itinerary and ties in India; a local contact's Letter of Introduction strengthens the file.
Previous immigration record
Overstay, refusal of entry or an outstanding fine in Singapore.
The fix. Settle fines through ICA and disclose the history; reapply with a short, specific trip.
Sponsor or local contact issues
The local contact did not meet the age or status rule, or the LOI was not signed.
The fix. Use an eligible local contact or an authorised agent instead.
Entry refused at the checkpoint
No return ticket, no accommodation proof or inconsistent answers to the officer.
The fix. Carry printouts of the ticket, booking and e-Visa and answer consistently; the visa itself does not guarantee entry.
