Oman tourist eVisa and 14-day visa-free entry for Indian passport holders
Indian citizens apply for Oman's tourist eVisa on the Royal Oman Police portal: OMR 20 (about INR 4,500) for a 30-day single-entry visa (26B), or OMR 5 for a 10-day visa (26A) if they hold a valid visa or residence permit for the United States, United Kingdom, a Schengen state, Canada, Australia or Japan, or are GCC residents in an approved profession. The same group can also enter without a visa for up to 14 days under Oman's second exemption list, with a return ticket, hotel booking and health insurance. Approval takes 1 to 5 working days, the 30-day visa can be extended once by 30 days (OMR 20), and a 1-year multiple-entry tourist visa costs OMR 50. Indian passport holders without a qualifying visa use the OMR 20 eVisa.

Oman tourist evisa and 14-day exemption: quick answers
- Do Indians need a visa for Oman?
- Yes, unless you hold a valid US, UK, Schengen, Canadian, Australian or Japanese visa or residence permit, or GCC residence in an approved profession, in which case you may enter visa-free for up to 14 days (or buy the OMR 5 10-day visa). All other Indian passport holders apply for the 30-day tourist eVisa (OMR 20) before travel; visas on arrival are no longer routinely issued to Indians at Muscat. The eVisa covers tourism, family visits and business meetings; employment, family residence and investment use the sponsored routes on the other Oman pages.
- What does it cost?
- OMR 20 for the 30-day tourist eVisa, OMR 5 for the 10-day visa for qualifying visa holders, OMR 50 for a 1-year multiple-entry tourist visa (30 days per visit), and OMR 20 for a one-time 30-day extension, paid by card on the ROP portal; the 14-day exemption is free. Travel insurance covering Oman is required and costs INR 500 to 1,500 for a short trip. Fees are not refunded. Vistolane charges the ROP fee at the official rate and shows its service separately.
- How long does it take?
- The ROP portal approves most eVisas in 1 to 5 working days, often within 24 hours; apply after booking flights and at least a week before travel. The eVisa is valid for entry within 30 days of issue (the 10-day visa within 1 month), and the stay clock starts at entry.

Which Oman entry option fits an Indian traveller
| Option | Who | Fee | Stay | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 14-day visa-free entry | Indians with a valid US, UK, Schengen, Canadian, Australian or Japanese visa or residence; GCC residents in approved professions | Free | 14 days | Return ticket, hotel booking, insurance; not extendable |
| 10-day tourist eVisa (26A) | Same group | OMR 5 | 10 days | Enter within 1 month of issue |
| 30-day tourist eVisa (26B) | All Indian passport holders | OMR 20 | 30 days, extendable once by 30 | Enter within 30 days of issue |

| Express or sponsored visit visa | Business visitors sponsored by an Omani company | OMR 20 | 30 days | Sponsor applies on the ROP portal |
The ROP portal asks for the passport bio page, a photo, the qualifying visa where relevant, a hotel booking and return ticket; children apply on their own passports. Border officers at Muscat International Airport check the insurance and bookings, and the 14-day exemption is granted at the counter on showing the qualifying visa. Oman is popular with Indians for Muscat, Salalah's khareef season (July to September) and the UAE-Oman road trip; the eVisa must be obtained before crossing the land border from the UAE.

Timeline for an Indian traveller
| Stage | Typical time | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| Bookings | Before applying | Flights, hotel, insurance |
| eVisa | 1 to 5 working days | Usually within 24 hours |

At the border and during the stay
Officers scan the eVisa and record the entry; tourists may not work, and a tourist visa cannot be converted to an employment or family visa inside Oman except through a sponsor's application and, usually, a change of status fee. Workers arrive on the employment visa and families on the family joining visa, covered on the other Oman route pages. Overstays are fined OMR 10 a day and settled at the airport before departure.
